Stray Thought #19

hiding in the jungle
in the shadows of the jungle
in the lacy patterned jungle

hang our smoke clouds in the air
pin the sunshine to your hair
plant the flora everywhere

everywhere that we can see
hiding treasures under leaves
with the magic that love weaves

set myself to fall apart
get ready for broken hearts
kick our shoes into the sea

move the ocean in our wake
as the planets move, we quake
as Earth leaves us in her ache

Stray Thought #17

How can we not be obsessed with death when death is our inevitable destination. Why try to make us fear it when facing the reality of it, respecting it, and not being afraid are the only ways to truly be free and to truly be able to pursue life in this environment. Besides, how can we not be obsessed with death when we see it looming over our and many other species' futures with all this climate change; when it is the only reliable constant in this life of chaos; when it is the only sweet release from this hardship and hatred.

Stray Thought #15

I drove and I drove
But my heart called to this place
At the water's edge

To let the surf speak
As I stood rebellious
Knowing the moon won

In loss there is grief
But life keeps changing
As often as the tide

I feel at ease here
As the storm still rages on
In heart and in mind

Speaking through the surf
The bay puts pressure on me
To give up the fight

Stray Thought #12

I think about you when I'm high
I see your face looking across the table at me
Your eyes, in a haze, smoldering
They burn through my soul now
Staring me down
And I'll condemn myself for want of you
Because all's fair in love...
If only I knew...

Rose Sarasota
Glittering in the sunset.
My secret hideout

But I'd also like
A place where after the sunset
I am not all alone

Red and Black Dragons
Burn everything in their path
Fire feeds fire

Tooth and nail clashing
Would one dare disturb their wrath
For love of one, yes

Marred, bruised and shattered
Claim one's heart in the bloodbath
All's fair in love...

Stray Thought #7

Music in the rain
A bewitching percussion
Telling someone's tale

Sputtering heartbeats
Listen to each drop echo
Tiny shattered tears

Why does my heart break
Whose story am I hearing
Is it yours or mine

As thunder marches
I cry out against the storm
Howling with the wind

But do you hear it
What magic does it weave now
What comfort it brings

Tell me a story
Sleep may finally settle
I may even dream

The surf is as restless as my crazy heart.
The sky has been sundered like my broken heart.

Never forget
But never again

Find heals in the wet
Marshland sunset

Riding the speed limit
Into the sun

As jupiter passed venus
To the moons open arms

The suburbs are singing my blues tonight
Neon bible singing my blues tonight
Funeral is singing my blues tonight

Never forget
I'll never regret

Yes I'd die for my cause,
but ask me to live.
To remain in the magic,
though dirty or clean.
Ask me to fight
ask me to cry
ask me to hope,
though hope is obscene.
Ask me to sacrifice fears,
to give up anxiety
and fatalistic schemes.
I'll fight the whole way,
I'll kick and I'll scream.
Ask me to flourish,
to love and to learn.
Ask me to chase
what joy I can glean
I might yet endure
just ask me to live.
To live is to struggle,
to live is to dream.

The city lights glitter like a diadem on the horizon.
You leave the window open and the many eyes of the buildings look on you as you sleep, whispering their prayers and secrets into the darkness
In the morning the dawn hums a silent lullaby, sweet and soft and golden until the gentle crescendo of the rising sun finally wakes you.

Day 42/100

The moon watched him from just above the skyline. He looked guiltily on at her yellow face. She reminded him of his mother. His mother would be telling him to go to bed. His mother would remind him of how miserable he would be without sleep the next day. The moon seemed to be of the same opinion. He never listened to his mother. Maybe he would listen to the moon.

Day 40/100

I don't want to believe that this has any effect on my spiritual purity. I don't want to believe that this has changed who I am in any way. I don't want to believe that I am less worthy of anything as a result of it. I don't want to believe that, on top of every other bad feeling that has come with it, I should feel guilty or ashamed.

I only hope I will be less naive for it. I hope I have learned a lesson through this. I hope it helps me realize that I deserve more than what I previously thought. I hope it helps me know that I am worthy of more than I had previously known. I hope it helps me better recognize the things that I do deserve.

SORRY, I’M NOT SORRY

Day 38/100

He cut his thumb until blood flowed freely from it. He leaned over the water once again, his shadow and his reflection appearing on cue on the surface of the water. There was no spell that he knew of for what he had in mind, but he pieced something together as he went along. First, there was a spell of revealing which caused the reflection and the shadow to become sharply contrasted from the dark water of the river. Next, he merged a spell of opening and a spell of binding into a complicated, elegant sort of mess. He wanted to be sure that once he opened whatever pathway these entities would use to cross over they would simultaneously be bound to him and to his will. As he spoke t...

Day 37/100

He looked at his reflection in the dark water. The sun overhead cast a shadow, a silhoutte of himself on the lazy quiet ripples of the surface. Both images stared back at him, one without eyes. The three of them were present at the same time, in the same place; man, shadow, reflection. He wondered, as he stared into his own face, and into the darkness he cast, what kind of magic it would require to pull those phantasms into his own plane of existance. To make them walk in his reality.

Day 36/100

He found himself walking again, despite having rested for only a several minutes. Something about the book, something about the words in it insisted that he take action, that he follow the instructions. The theory it presented in the first lesson was not unknown to him. He was familiar very familiar with the concept but as magic had always come so readily to his fingertips he had always taken it for granted. The exercise the book proposed had him standing and walking away from his pack, sadly forgotten. With the book in his hand, his thumb holding it open, he began to pace back and forth. Pacing didn’t quite do the trick, so he closed his eyes and walked straight ahead. He did as ...

Day 27/100

An image appears in the darkness. A form pulses to the rhythm of my heart, a distraction I can't ignore. Shadow and light converge upon it, particle by particle, giving it shape. Long and thin and crooked, but generally straight, it glides through the black miasma. A stick. A stick carving shapes into black sand. The hand of a child. Dirty fingernails.
